The year is 1889, and Cyril MacGrath is the greatest private investigator in the Dominion of Canada. However, he feels lost in the shadow of his mentor, the Great Detective of London. When a Montreal heiress is found brutally murdered in the suburbs, MacGrath finds himself struggling to focus on the case as he struggles to come to terms with the disturbing "Affair of the Belgian Importer" he has only recently closed.
