Succinctly, Culture Crunch is like a Chick Flick... if the camera operator and costume designer were replaced by 13-year-old boys!

It's the story of a family, told over several generations. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sad, sometimes it's romantic, and sometimes it's scary. Like life itself.

What it's not

Despite being a webcomic, you will not see: two gamers on a couch, stick figures making jokes about physics, superheroes, spaceships, robot sidekicks, half-fox/half-human creatures, “funny” decapitations, elves, or wizards. I know, how can a webcomic exist without these things!?

What's with the whole “time” thing?

Did you ever find it a little disturbing that Charlie Brown remained a small boy for decades? One of the major factors of this comic is that time is passing. Babies are born, they grow up, they grow old, and they die. The comic may jump around in time, both forwards and backwards, but everything is grounded in a particular time. Hopefully, all the “puzzle pieces” will fit together.

The comic will be divided into “months,” and each month has its own particular tone or theme. Note that it isn't “real time,” however. A month in the comic may last for several months in real life. In case you were wondering, this division is for the purpose of eventually collecting the comics into printed volumes (which also explains the page formatting).

What does the name mean?

“Culture Crunch” is not a breakfast cereal. Rather, it's like a culture clash, with East meeting West at highway speeds!

This speaks to one of the major “gimmicks.” The majority of the strip is inspired by a type of comic that was common in the United States in the 1960s. However, there are a few characters who seem to have been plucked from a different kind of story. These characters tend to be drawn a little differently from the others.

Any other gimmicks?

If you can call it that. There are a lot of character types and story elements that would make people roll their eyes and moan, “Nobody does that anymore!” Well... why not? This comic will be the only one, then! In webcomics' unending quest to be darker and edgier, Culture Crunch may seem pretty old-fashioned to some people. It's goal is to reach an audience who sees that as a good thing.
