In an independent cluster of galaxies on the Outer Sphere of the cosmos, a lone courier is attacked by pirates in pursuit of a very specific cargo. Taken prisoner on the orders of a mysterious Elven woman, he finds himself mixed up in a struggle between the anti-mage governments of the Thuliv Cluster Alliance and a pro-mage insurgency called the Blue Star Rebellion.
